Bettinger Named SCAC Character & Community Female Student-Athlete of the Week
Trinity's Lynne Bettinger, a senior diver on the
women's swimming and diving team from Albuquerque, N.M., has
been selected the SCAC Character & Community Female
Student-Athlete-of-the-Week for the week ending January 29,
2012.
A three-time All-SCAC diver (three-meter) and a three-time member
of the SCAC Honor Roll, Bettinger is fast becoming one of Trinity's
top divers. She has earned NCAA consideration scores each of
the past two seasons, and narrowly missed an invitation to the NCAA
Diving Championships in 2011. This season, she was the SCAC Diver
of the Week in January, following a meet against Austin College in
which she won the three-meter competition, and was third on the
one-meter board.
Bettinger is working on a B.S. in Neuroscience, and is an active
member of both the Trinity and San Antonio communities. She is
the VP of Community Service for the National Society of Collegiate
Scholars (NSCS), which is an on-campus organization that
participates in various events in the local
community. Included in those efforts are volunteer events with
the San Antonio Children's Museum, and Brackenridge Park. The
Children's Museum provides interactive exhibits and services,
targeted towards kids aged 0-10.
In addition to her work with NSCS, Bettinger is also a part of AED
(Pre-Med Honors Society) and the Blue Key Honors Society. With the
Blue Key, she does volunteer work for on-campus events, and with
AED, Bettinger also participates in volunteer work at local high
schools in the San Antonio area.
Bettinger and the rest of the Tiger swimming & diving teams, led by Diving Coach Stan Randall, will next compete at the SCAC Championships Feb. 15-18, in Rockwall, Texas.
