Trinity Diving National Champion Martin Named SCAC Female Diver of the Year
San Antonio – Trinity University Tigers national women’s diving champion Lindsay Martin has received another honor, this time from the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
Martin, a senior from Longview, Texas (Pine Tree), was named SCAC Female Diver of the Year.
She captured the NCAA Division III 1-meter national championship, on March 18 in Minneapolis. Martin registered a score of 472.25, and was named NCAA Female Diver of the Meet. Two days later, on the 3-meter board, Martin placed second with a score of 490.90. The 3-meter national title was captured by Tiger junior Hayley Emerick of Portland, Texas (Gregory-Portland). Emerick had a score of 514.15.
Both divers earned All-America honors.
Trinity’s diving coach Stan Randall was selected as the NCAA
Female Diving Coach of the Meet.
Martin placed second on the 1-meter and 3-meter boards at the SCAC Championships, held in February in Louisville, Ky. She posted scores of 451.75 and 459.30, respectively. Emerick won both events and was named SCAC Female Diver of the Meet for the third straight year.
Trinity’s women won their seventh consecutive SCAC Championship, and 10th overall. John Ryan is the Tigers’ head men’s and women’s swimming coach.
