Trinity Women Win Western Shootout; Men Finish Third
Southlake, Texas - The Trinity University Tigers swimming and diving team won the Western Shootout Saturday, held at the Carroll Independent School District Aquatics Center.
Trinity scored 1,020 points, beating Centenary, with 1,000. The Tiger men chalked up 651 points for the third-place finish.
The Tigers had their usual outstanding performances in the diving competition. Trinity's women's divers took places 1-6 on the 1-meter board, with Hayley Emerick winning with a score of 297.15. Lindsay Martin was close by, at 294.05. The 3-meter board was a Trinity show from Nos. 1-5. Emerick was the winner (496.45) and Ruth Hahn was runner-up (430.05). Andrew Snead was men's runner-up on the 1-meter and 3-meter boards.
Andrew Battles won two men's swimming events, the 500-yard freestyle (4:44.0) and the 1,650 (16:35.07). Alex Miranda took the 400-yard individual medley (4:11.89).
Rachel Berude was the women's 50-yard freestyle champion (25.17), and Lisa Tucci captured the 400 IM (4:42.00).
