Trinity Sweeps SCAC Swimming and Diving Awards

San Antonio - The Tiger men's and women's swimming & diving teams swept the SCAC Swimmer of the Week and SCAC Diver of the Week awards, following the team's season-opening win over Southwestern.

Senior Lindsay Martin of Longview, Texas (Pine Tree), was named SCAC Women's Diver of the Week, following last week's performance against the University of the Incarnate Word at Hixon Natatorium. Martin scored 277.15 and won Saturday's 3-meter diving competition, edging All-American teammate Haley Emerick in the process. Martin finished as runner-up to Emerick on the 1-meter board, scoring 275.80 (to Emerick's 283.55).

Kevin Martin, a senior from Corpus Christi, Texas (Ray), was selected as the SCAC Men's Diver of the Week. Martin scored 249.10 points in the men's three-meter diving event on Saturday, as he surpassed teammate Andrew Snead's 209.20 point tally. 

The Tiger swimmers later beat Southwestern in a dual meet.

 Sophomore Andrew Battles of Colleyville, Texas (Keller), was chosen as SCAC Men's Swimmer of the Week. Battles won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:48.05. He then raced to a 13-second victory in the 500, while clocking a conference-best 4:49.14.

 First-year swimmer Lisa Tucci of Kansas City, Kan. (Notre Dame de Sion), was named the SCAC Women's Swimmer of the Week. Tucci turned in SCAC-leading times in the 200-yard butterfly (2:13.53) and the 500 freestyle (5:21.43). Both were Tucci's personal-best times.

Trinity will compete Friday and Saturday at the Dallas Invitational at Southlake, Texas.
