Four Tiger Softball Players Earn NFCA National Award

San Antonio - Four members of the Trinity University Tigers softball team have been honored by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.

Sophomore outfielder Rachel Garrett, sophomore pitcher Brittany Losey, junior Teresa Greppi, and senior Lee Smith, received the 2009 NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete Award. The NFCA presents the awards to softball team members with a grade point average of 3.5 or higher during an academic year.

Smith and Greppi, both infielders, also received the honor in 2008.

The Tigers are guided by fourth-year head coach Nicole Smith. Trinity hosted the 2009 SCAC Championship Tournament. The Tigers went 1-2 at the double-elimination event, and were 10-6 in overall SCAC play.
