Softball Swept in SCAC Doubleheader on Saturday Afternoon
San Antonio - Trinity's softball team was swept in a Saturday afternoon SCAC doubleheader by Millsaps College, finishing off a four-game weekend series.
Trinity (8-12, 1-3 SCAC) lost both games by run-rule, losing 14-0 in the opener and 12-3 in the second game.
In the first game, the Tigers were down just three runs through three innings, but the Majors exploded with an eight-run fourth inning. Trinity was held to just three hits in the game, while Millsaps finished with a total of nine hits. Each team committed three errors.
Trinity's Megan Russell had two of the team's three hits in the opening game, while Ana Garcia was 1-2 for the Tigers.
Millsaps opened up the second game with four runs in the first inning, as well as posting another eight-run fourth inning. Trinity broke up the shutout with a run in the bottom of the fourth. The Tigers scored a pair of runs in the fifth, but failed to extend the game.
Caitlin Richards and Alexa Calderson each went 2-3 in the second game, while Russell added two more hits to her day.
Jennifer McKinley was 3-3 with six RBI in the first game for the Majors. Megan Yglesias and Kasey Thibodeaux had four RBI each in game two.
Trinity will remain at home for a non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday, taking on Simon Fraser at 4:00 p.m.
