San Antonio - The seventh-ranked Tiger men's tennis team earned a pair of victories on Saturday, defeating the University of Texas-Tyler 9-0, and Texas Lutheran University 8-1.
Trinity started the day against UT-Tyler, winning three highly-competitive doubles matches to take an early 3-0 lead. The Tigers then won all six singles contests in straight sets to finish off the opening match.
Against Texas Lutheran, Trinity again took control early with three points in doubles. Charlie Curtis and Clayton Neiss were the only Tiger players to earn doubles victories in both matches. The doubles duo won from line three against UT-Tyler, and were top line winners against TLU.
Curtis is now 14-1 overall in doubles play this season, while Neiss is 15-9 overall. Together, the doubles partners hold a 12-1 record on the year. Curtis is also 10-2 in singles this season, including his win today.
Jordan Mayer improved his singles record to 17-2 this season with his win against UT-Tyler, while Paxton Deuel moved to 14-6 in singles.
Manuel Brown took the line six win against Texas Lutheran, and is now 4-0 in singles this season. Pablo Diaz Boom also moved to 3-0 with his win at No. 4 singles against the Bulldogs.
Trinity will finish off the regular season with two more matches at home next weekend. The Tigers will host the University of Texas-Dallas and Colorado College in a doubleheader on Saturday, April 19. Trinity will also serve as the host of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament, which begins on April 25.
