San Antonio - Trinity Tigers junior Jordan Mayer has been selected as the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week.
Mayer has sparked the Tigers -
ranked eighth in the NCAA Division III - to a 6-2 record this
season. Included in Trinity’s victory column are wins over
non-Division III opponents Abilene Christian University, Tyler
Junior College, and Midwestern State University.
Last weekend, the Tigers swept three home matches, defeating Tyler Junior College (5-4), the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (8-1), and Midwestern State (5-4).
Mayer is undefeated with a 6-0 singles record. The mark includes matches against five non-Division III opponents. He has posted two wins over Tyler Junior College, and victories over the University of Texas-San Antonio, Abilene Christian, and Midwestern State.
Additionally, Mayer has clinched the deciding dual-match point in three of the team’s wins this season.
Trinity will compete Friday through Sunday at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division III National Men’s Team Indoor Championship at Cleveland, Ohio. The fifth-seeded Tigers take on No. 4 California Lutheran University at 2:30 p.m. ET Friday in the quarterfinals.
