San Antonio - Trinity senior Greg Haugen has been chosen as the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week.
Haugen was 3-0 in singles and doubles last week, leading the Tigers to wins over Division II Incarnate Word and Texas Lutheran. He has won five of his last six in singles, and is on a seven-match win streak in doubles play.
With Trinity down 4-2 against Incarnate Word, Haugen scored a crucial 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 win at No. 3 singles to start a rally that resulted in a 5-4 victory for the Tigers. He also won 8-3 in doubles against both UIW and TLU over the weekend.
Trinity, led by Head Coach Russell McMindes, has won seven consecutive matches to improve to 13-8 on the season. The Tigers will play four matches away from home this weekend, taking on UT-Dallas, Division I Southern Methodist, UT-Tyler, and Collin County Community College on Friday and Sunday.
The matches will be the final tune-up before the SCAC Championships, which Trinity will host on April 27-28.
