Trinity Men's Tennis Edged by Skidmore on Monday

Claremont, California - The Tiger men's tennis team had its two-match win streak snapped in a 5-4 loss to Skidmore College on Monday afternoon.

Trinity (8-5) fell to 2-2 on the Spring Break trip in California, after beating both Redlands and Pomona-Pitzer in its last two matches.

The Tigers got just one point after doubles, as Greg Haugen and Jordan Mayer took an 8-4 win at No. 2 doubles.  Max Frey/Erick DelaFuente (No. 1) and Ben Carroll/Charlie Curtis (No. 3) both lost 5-8. 

The two teams split the six singles matches, with Trinity winning at each of the top three positions. 

Frey won 7-5, 6-2 at the top spot, while DelaFuente battled for a 6-2, 5-7, 10-4 win at No. 2 singles.  Haugen accounted for Trinity's final point 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3 singles.

Mayer fell 5-7, 3-6 at No. 4, while Carroll lost 6-7, 3-6 at the fifth spot, and Curtis lost 2-6, 0-6 at the No. 6 position.

Trinity will finish off the West Coast trip with a match against Bowdoin College tomorrow afternoon.  The Tigers return home March 31 to face Southwestern, Colorado College, and Austin College in a rare tripleheader.
