Trinity Tennis Player Selected for SCAC All-Sportsmanship Teams

San Antonio – Trinity University Tigers first-year player Erick DelaFuente and junior Megan Jackson have been selected for the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men’s and Women’s Tennis All-Sportsmanship Teams, respectively.

Each head coach was asked to nominate a player who exhibited sportsmanship throughout the season.

DelaFuente, from El Paso, Texas (Coronado), was earlier named to the SCAC All-Tournament Team, at No. 2 doubles, with sophomore Max Frey. The Tigers captured the SCAC Team Championship.

Trinity (18-9), led by first-year head coach Russell McMindes, won the NCAA Division III West Regional, and will compete in the NCAA Championship Tournament May 25-27 at Oberlin, Ohio. The Tigers, who have won 14 straight matches, will take on Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in the quarterfinals.

Jackson, from Katy, Texas (Cinco Ranch), made a strong showing for the Tigers at No. 4 singles and No. 3 doubles. Trinity took third place at the SCAC Championship, and completed the dual-match season with a 12-12 record. The Tigers are guided by second-year head coach Ryan Takao.
