Trinity Men's Tennis Falls to California Lutheran

Thousand Oaks, Calif. – The 15th-ranked California Lutheran Kingsmen beat the No. 13 Trinity Tigers men’s tennis team 7-2 Sunday at Poulson Tennis Center.

Trinity, ranked No. 4 in the West Region, now stands at 4-9. The Tigers conclude their California trip Monday, with a match against 12th-ranked Bowdoin, at Claremont. The match will begin at 10 a.m. Pacific Time.

The Tigers held a 2-1 advantage after doubles. Sophomore Max Frey of Tulsa, Okla. (Holland Hall); and first-year Erick DelaFuente of El Paso, Texas (Coronado); won No. 2 doubles, beating Ryan Lassila and John Karsant 8-6. No. 3 doubles went to the Tiger team of sophomore Benjamin Carroll of Evansville, Ind. (Reitz Memorial); and junior Don Murray of Plano, Texas (Plano West), who were 8-4 winners over Jordan Culpepper and Ray Worley.

California Lutheran, ranked No. 7 in the West Region, won all six singles matches, and remained undefeated with an 8-0 record.

The only three-set match was No. 5 singles, played between Trinity junior Andrew Hoing of Steamboat Springs, Colo. (Steamboat Springs), and Karsant, who won 4-6, 6-0, 6-0.
