UIW Downs Trinity Men's Tennis on Saturday

San Antonio - The University of the Incarnate Word Cardinals beat the Trinity University Tigers men 6-3 Saturday in a dual match at Delavan Tennis Stadium.

UIW is ranked No. 18 in the NCAA Division II, and Trinity (2-4) is No. 14 in Division III. The two teams will meet again April 17 at Incarnate Word.

The Cardinals swept all three doubles matches, and the teams split singles 3-3.

Tiger first-year player Erick DelaFuente won No. 3 singles, with a 1-6, 5-3, retired, victory over Max Moreau. Junior Andrew Hoing was a 7-5, 6-4 winner over David Ballenger at No. 5 singles.  Don Murray, a Trinity junior, beat Pierce Branden 7-6, 6-4 at No. 6 singles.

Trinity will host Laredo Community College on Friday, March 5.
