Tiger Men's Tennis Splits Matches at ACU Invitational
Abilene, Texas - The Trinity Tigers men's tennis team, ranked No. 14 in the NCAA Division III, had an excellent showing Friday in the opening day of the ACU (Abilene Christian University) Invitational.
ACU, ranked No. 23 in Division II, beat the Tigers 6-3 in the first match of the day. But, the Tigers rallied to defeat Midwestern State, ranked No. 25 in Division II, by a score of 5-4.
Trinity won two out of three doubles matches against ACU, including wins by the teams of Bobby Cocanougher/Cory Kowal and Benjamin Carroll/Donald Murray. Murray also won at No. 6 singles for the Tigers.
The Tigers swept the doubles against Midwestern State, as the team of Max Frey/Erick DelaFuente joined the previous Trinity doubles winners. Frey and Cocanougher also won in singles to clinch the match for the Tiger men's team.
The Tigers (1-1) conclude the tournament Saturday by taking on Oklahoma Christian at 8 a.m.
