San Antonio - Trinity men's soccer senior Cooper Fyfe has been selected as the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Character & Community Student-Athlete of the Week.
The award was created by the conference to honor the efforts of student-athletes who excel in their sport and also serve their campus and community.
Fyfe, who hails from Austin, Texas, is heavily involved with Young Life. He currently very active in the organization as leader for middle school students at Alamo Heights Middle School and the San Antonio Academy.
The Tuesday night club for this young age group is known as "Wyldlife." The leaders of the group play games with the kids and lead short Christian discussions. The other activity on Tuesdays is known as "Campaigners," which is similar to a Bible study. Fyfe has also utilized his soccer skills as a volunteer for the Spurs Silver & Black Give Back, which supports youth sports programs.
The midfielder has started all 13 games for the third-ranked Tigers this season. Fyfe has contributed to the success of Trinity, which stands at 12-1-0 overall and is 8-1-0 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference action.
A business administration-marketing major, Fyfe has been selected for the SCAC Academic Honor Roll each year since he joined the team in 2014. Fyfe came to the Trinity campus from Lake Travis High School.
