Sherman, Texas - The fourth-ranked Trinity men's soccer team won its fifth consecutive game with a 2-1 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference victory over Austin College Sunday afternoon.
Christian Sakshaug had two narrow misses in the first half, hitting the post in the opening minutes, and then clanging a shot off the crossbar just before Michaelis scored his eventual game-winner.
The Kangaroos notched a goal on a free kick in the 61st minute, pushing a header past Tiger goalkeeper Blake Lieberman.
Austin College had two shots to tie the game in the final minutes, but Lieberman recorded a crucial save in the 84th minute, and the final attempt went wide in the 88th.
In winning their fifth game in a row, the Tigers improved to 10-1-0 and 6-1-0 SCAC. Austin College now stands at 5-3-3 and 3-2-2 SCAC.
Austin Michaelis leads the Tigers in both goals (eight) and game-winners (four). Michaelis can now claim 24 career goals, which places him in the top-25 in Trinity's record books.
Jacob Hallenberger is in second place with six goals this season.

Trinity will play two SCAC road games next weekend, taking on the University of Dallas (TX) and Colorado College - two of the top three teams in the SCAC standings.
