Zach Garcia Earns NSCAA All-American Honors
San Antonio - It turns out that Tiger men's soccer senior midfielder Zach Garcia (Dallas/Lake Highlands) had one more "hat trick" up his sleeve, as he was elected to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-America Team for the third straight year.
Garcia was selected for the 2011 NSCAA/Continental Tires NCAA Men's Division III All-America First Team, after making the NSCAA All-Far West Region Team earlier this week - along with four Trinity men's soccer teammates. He was also elected to the All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Team following his senior season.
In 2009, Garcia was named a Second Team All-America by the NSCAA, and was a First Team selection last year. He was also named to the D3soccer.com All-America Second Team in 2010, and was the SCAC Offensive Player of the Year.
In the 2011 campaign, Garcia scored six goals - with five game-winners - and produced five assists for 17 points. For his career, he scored 19 goals and 12 assists, totaling 50 points in 78 games played.
Trinity, led by 21st-year head Coach Paul McGinlay, advanced to the NCAA Division III playoffs for the 15th time, and 10th in a row. The University of Texas-Tyler beat Trinity in an NCAA second-round home game, and the Tigers finished the year with a 14-2-2 record.
Trinity was ranked 15th in the nation by D3soccer.com, and 17th by the NSCAA.
