Trinity's New Soccer Facilities to be Dedicated in September

San Antonio – Trinity University's Paul McGinlay Soccer Field and the "Tito" Isom Memorial will be dedicated in a special ceremony at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23.

Formerly known as the Trinity University Soccer Stadium, the renovated facilities will be renamed in honor of the Tigers longtime men's soccer coach Paul McGinlay, as well as the late Timothy "Tito" Isom.

The ceremony will precede the Trinity women's soccer game with Our Lady of the Lake University, which begins at 7 p.m.

Fans will immediately notice that the playing field of the stadium has been enhanced. The grandstands have been expanded to accommodate 1,500 spectators. The Isom Memorial is a new 14-foot-high red-brick facility which will be utilized for announcing, scorekeeping, video recording, and live streaming of all Tiger soccer games. Competing teams will also be stationed in new bench areas.

Isom was a Trinity soccer standout from 1994-1998. He died in September 2000 while working in Chicago. Isom was the son of Edna and Harold Isom, who, along with their daughter Ralynn, will be present at the dedication ceremony.

The talented Isom attended McCullough High School in The Woodlands, Texas, and was a member of the Houston Texans Soccer Club.

The Chapman Trust provided 80 percent of the funding for the project. Also contributing were friends and alumni of Trinity soccer, and members of the Chi Delta Tau fraternity.
