Trinity's Porter Selected as SCAC Men's Soccer Co-Defensive Player of the Week
San Antonio – Trinity University Tigers sophomore defender Kyle Porter of Albuquerque, N.M. (Eldorado) has been selected as the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Co-Defensive Player of the Week.
Porter led a Trinity defense which produced two shutout victories last weekend in Georgetown, Texas. The Tigers, ranked No. 23 in the NCAA Division III, beat Hardin-Simmons 3-0 and Texas-Dallas 1-0.
Trinity (4-1-0) yielded just five total shots in the two games. In the UT-Dallas game, the Tigers not allow a shot in the second half.
Porter, who was redshirted last season because of an injury, has started all five of the Tigers games this year. Trinity’s taut defense has allowed only four goals and 25 shots during the campaign.
The Tigers return home Thursday to host Texas Lutheran at 7:30 p.m. at the Trinity Soccer Field.
