Tiger Men Defeat Birmingham-Southern on Sunday
San Antonio - The sixth-ranked Trinity Tigers men beat the Birmingham-Southern Panthers 4-1 Sunday afternoon in an SCAC game at the Trinity Soccer Field.
The defending conference champion Tigers improved to 12-2-0 and 6-0-0 SCAC, and captured their fourth win a row.
Trinity, which won its 11th game in the last 12 outings, was paced by junior midfielder CH Farmer, who scored a goal (18th minute), and registered two assists. Farmer now has three goals and five assists to his credit.
Junior midfielder Zach Garcia put the Tigers on the board, with his ninth goal of the season, 45 seconds into the contest. Farmer provided the assist. Farmer's goal came in the 18th minute, on an assist from first-year midfielder Yuri Ribeiro. In the 26th minute, Ribeiro scored on a "head-over-heels bicycle goal," his eighth scoring play of the season, on the assist by Farmer. Sophomore defender Denny Mask scored early in the second half (his fifth goal this year), in the 48th minute, and sophomore midfielder Nima Naderi accounted for his fifth assist.
Birmingham-Southern had a goal from Tim Tincher in the 88th minute.
Trinity travels to Georgetown, Texas, for a Thursday, Oct. 21, SCAC game with Southwestern at 4 p.m. The Tigers return home to host California-Santa Cruz at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 24.
