Tiger Men's Soccer Wins Sixth Straight Game on Sunday
Memphis, Tennessee – The seventh-ranked
Trinity Tigers men won their sixth consecutive game with a 4-1
Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference victory over the Rhodes
Lynx Sunday afternoon.
Trinity, the defending conference champion, improved to 7-1-0 and
2-0-0 SCAC. The Tigers were 7-3 winners over Hendrix last Friday in
a SCAC game at Conway, Ark.
Tiger junior All-America midfielder Zach Garcia scored his seventh
goal of the season, in the 28th minute of play. Junior forward
Cameron Hogsett recorded his eighth assist of the campaign.
First-year forward Brian Hines gave Trinity a 2-0 lead in the
40th minute, which turned out to be the eventual game-winner.
Sophomore forward Alan Castillejos increased the lead to 3-0, with
a solo shot in the 75th minute.
Brett Simek of Rhodes scored on a penalty kick in the 80th minute.
The final scoring play of the game came in the 81st minute, with an
unassisted goal by Tiger sophomore midfielder Nima Naderi.
Trinity fired up 12 shots, with nine on goal, and limited Rhodes to
only one shot, which was off target.
The Tigers will host Rowan on Friday, and Christopher Newport,
ranked No. 2 in the nation, on Saturday at the Trinity Soccer
Field. Game time each day is 7:30 p.m.
