Trinity Men's Soccer Rallies to Defeat Hendrix

Conway, Ark. – The seventh-ranked Trinity Tigers men's soccer team had to come back from a halftime deficit to defeat the Hendrix Warriors 7-3 Friday night in an SCAC opener.

Trinity, down 2-3 at halftime, scored five goals in the second half, and improved to 6-1-0. The Tigers (1-0-0 SCAC), defending SCAC champions, captured their fifth consecutive game.

First-year midfielder Yuri Ribeiro, who registered a hat trick in the game, put the Tigers on the board with a goal in the fifth minute. Four minutes later, senior midfielder Tommy Barros gave Trinity a 2-0 lead.

Then, the Warriors Connor Silvestri scored goals in the 12th and 22nd minutes, tying the score at 2-2. Duncan Keegan gave Hendrix a 3-2 lead, by scoring in the 25th minute.

Early in the second half, Ribeiro scored his second goal, with the assistance of junior forward Cameron Hogsett, and the scoreboard read 3-3. Sophomore midfielder Nima Naderi, assisted by Hogsett, gave the Tigers the permanent lead in the 69th minute. Ribeiro added his third goal of the night, in the 76th minute, as Naderi had the honor of the assist. Hogsett scored on a solo shot in the 84th minute, and junior midfielder Jordan Wade put the icing on the cake in the 86th minute. Sophomore forward Alan Castillejos had the assist.

The Tigers conclude their SCAC trip Sunday by taking on Rhodes at Memphis, Tenn. Game time is 10:30 a.m.
