Former Tiger Nets Player of the Week Honors in NASL

Miami, Florida - Kyle Altman, a former Trinity men's soccer All-American, was named the North American Soccer League's Defensive Player of the Week for his play with the Minnesota Stars.

Altman and the Stars defense posted the team's fourth shutout of the season to beat Atlanta, then allowed just one goal in a 1-1 tie against Puerto Rico - the defending second-division champion.  Both games were on the road, and the Stars are currently second in the NASL standings with a 4-2-5 record.

At Trinity, Altman was a two-time National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-American, earning First Team honors in both 2006 and 2007.

During his four seasons, he led the Tigers to four Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships, and four appearances in the NCAA Playoffs.  In his senior year (2007), he led Trinity to the NCAA Championship game, but the Tigers lost in penalty kicks.  Trinity won the 2003 NCAA Division III National Championship - the team's only other appearance in the final.

Altman has played every minute for the Stars this season, and the team returns to action June 18, facing FC Edmonton at home.  For more information on the Minnesota Stars, visit the team Web site, NSCMinnesota.com.
