Trinity's Tyler Czinege Earns National Academic Honor
San Antonio - Trinity University Tigers senior defender Tyler Czinege has been elected to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America College Division Men's Soccer Team.
Czinege, from Overland Park, Kan. (Rockhurst), was selected for the Academic All-America Third Team. He is a business administration/marketing major with a 3.99 grade point average.
Voting is conducted nationwide by members of CoSIDA, the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Czinege spearheaded a staunch Tiger defense which yielded only 10 goals in 18 games.
The Tigers, guided by head coach Paul McGinlay, finished the season with a 15-1-2 record. Trinity won its eighth straight Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference title, with a 10-0-0 mark. The Tigers advanced to the NCAA Division III playoffs for the eighth consecutive time, but were upset in the second round.
