San Antonio - Trinity junior Zach Lambert has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week.
Lambert led the Tigers to three wins in four games last week, including a road weekend sweep of Centenary and Austin College to open SCAC play.
Trinity improved to 4-3 this season with the strong week, and has won four of its past five contests. The team's only loss during this stretch came on a buzzer-beating three-pointer.
Lambert connected on over 46% of his shots over the past week, including 8-17 (47.1%) from three-point range. He also hit 20-22 (90.9%) from the foul line, adding six assists and five steals. Lambert averaged 20 points and 7.8 rebounds per game for the week.
In Friday's SCAC opener at Centenary College, Lambert posted a double-double with 10 points and 11 boards, then finished off the weekend with 22 points at Austin College on Saturday night. He nailed 11-22 from the field and grabbed eight rebounds earlier in the week against Mary Hardin-Baylor, finishing with a season-high 28 points.
Trinity returns to action December 17 and 18 at the Southwestern Classic in Georgetown, Texas, taking on Howard Payne and SUNYIT.
