Colorado College Snaps Trinity Men's Win Streak

COLORADO SPRINGS -- The Colorado College Tigers held a lead throughout the game and claimed a 69-54 SCAC win over the Trinity Tigers men Friday night at Reid Gymnasium.
 
Trinity, which had a three-game winning streak snapped, now stands at 3-7 and 0-2 SCAC. Colorado College improved to 6-5 and 3-0 SCAC. The two teams will play again Feb. 11 in Sams Gym.
 
Trinity Tigers senior senior forward Luke Caldarera (Houston/Katy Taylor) led the team with 10 points. Caldarera shot 4-9 from the field and sank both free throw attempts. He also grabbed four rebounds.
 
First-year forward Robert Kitzinger (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) added nine points, and first-year forward Zach Lambert (Frisco, Texas/Centennial) had seven, on 3-5 shooting. Junior guard Ryan Beall (Santa Barbara, Calif./Dos Pueblos) led the Tigers in rebounds (six) and assists (three), while scoring four points.
 
Colorado College led 30-24 at halftime, and by as much as 19 points (40-59) with 8:15 remaining in the game. In the second half, Trinity did pull within five points (31-36) on a layup by Caldarera at 17:28.
 
Colorado College was paced by Ryan Milne and Nick Rose with 20 points each.
 
The Trinity Tigers shot 33.9 percent (21-62) from the field, and Colorado College hit 40.7 percent (24-59). The two teams were even in total rebounds, with 41 each.
 
The two Tiger teams were close in turnovers, as Trinity committed 13 and Colorado College 11. But, the Colorado Tigers scored 20 points off turnovers, as opposed to only six for Trinity.
 
Trinity continues its road trip Sunday in Sherman, Texas, with a 3 p.m. SCAC game against Austin College.
