Tiger Men Fall at Claremont Friday Night

Claremont, Calif. - The Trinity Tiger men's basketball team opened up its part at the David Wells Classic with a 76-63 loss to the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Stags on Friday night.

Trinity dropped to 0-4, and Claremont improved to 2-0.

Tiger junior guard Ryan Beall paced Trinity with a career-high 17 points, on 5-10 shooting from the field, and 3-4 beyond the arc. Beall also had a team-best six rebounds, five assists, and four steals.

Senior forwards Luke Caldarera and Sam Dworkin each contributed 10 points. First-year forward Zach Lambert accounted for nine points and four rebounds.

The Stags led 36-29 at halftime, but the Tigers held the edge in shooting. Trinity hit 50 percent in the half, and Claremont made 48 percent of its shots. Both teams had excellent shooting percentages in the second half, from the field and in 3-point range. The Tigers shot 50 percent and 57 percent, respectively. Claremont, though, shot 72 percent from the field, and 86 percent beyond the line.

At the end of the night, the Tigers shot 50 percent (26-52) from the field, and made 50 percent (6-12) of their 3-point attempts. The Stags went 57.8 percent (25-45) from the field, and 57.9 percent (11-19) in treys.

Beau Heidrich of Claremont led the game with 18 points,and Patrick Lacey had 16, along with eight rebounds.

Trinity wraps up its California trip Saturday by playing at Pomona-Pitzer, in Claremont. Tip-off is at 7:30 p.m. Pacific (9:30 p.m. Central).
