Trinity Men Continue Streak with Win Over Sewanee
Sewanee, Tenn. -- The Trinity Tigers men won their fourth consecutive game with a 58-40 SCAC victory over Sewanee:The University of the South Tigers Friday night in Juhan Gym.
Trinity, which has now won seven of the last eight games, improved to 7-7 and 4-2 SCAC. Sewanee dropped to 5-8 and 1-5. The Tennessee Tigers' point total was the lowest by a Trinity opponent this season.
Senior forward Sam Dworkin (Portland, Ore./Lincoln) led the game with 13 points. Dworkin shot 5-9 from the field, and 2-4 in 3-point range.
Junior guard Ryan Beall (Santa Barbara, Calif./Dos Pueblos) added 10 points and a game-leading four assists. First-year forward Robert Kitzinger (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) scored seven points, and accounted for three steals. Jonathan Wilt (Chandler, Ariz./Hamilton) scored six points. Clarke Allan (Austin, Texas/Westlake) led the Tigers with six rebounds, while scoring four points.
The Trinity Tigers led 27-17 at halftime, after being down by four points in the first few minutes of the half. Trinity led by as much as 24 points, including a 55-31 margin with 6:12 remaining in the game. The Sewanee Tigers came no closer than 17 points after that mark.
Valentino Bryant led Sewanee with seven points, and Anvil Nelson was the top rebounder, with six.
Trinity held a 44-31 advantage in rebounding, and led 12-8 in offensive boards.The Texas Tigers shot 40.7 percent (22-54) from the field, and limited Sewanee to 26.5 percent (13-49).
Next up for Trinity is a SCAC game on Saturday in Atlanta with Oglethorpe. Tip off is at 8 p.m. Eastern (7 p.m. Central).
