Trinity Finishes Weekend Sweep With Win Over Hendrix
Conway, Ark. - The Trinity Tigers men's
basketball team swept the season series with the Hendrix Warriors
by a 60-45 SCAC victory Saturday night at Grove Gymnasium.
Trinity, which beat Hendrix 73-57 last month in San Antonio,
improved to 11-10 and 8-5 SCAC.
The Tigers, who have won two straight games, and three of the last
four, are in second place in the SCAC West Division. Trinity stands
just a half-game behind Colorado College, which visits Sams Gym
next Friday at 8 p.m. Hendrix dropped to 7-14 and 3-10.
Four Tigers scored in double figures, paced by senior forward Luke
Caldarera (Houston/Katy Taylor) with a game-leading 18 points.
Caldarera shot 8-18 from the field, pulled in five rebounds, and
blocked two shots.
First-year forward Robert Kitzinger (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) added 12
points, on 6-10 shooting. Clarke Allan (Austin, Texas/Westlake)
contributed 11 points and six rebounds, while first-year forward
Jonathan Wilt (Chandler, Ariz./Hamilton) scored 10.
A big playmaker was junior guard Ryan Beall (Santa Barbara,
Calif./Dos Pueblos) with eight assists, and a team-best nine
rebounds.
Nick Heathscott paced Hendrix with a double-double of 13 points and
16 rebounds.
Trinity led 35-21 at halftime, on 52 percent shooting. The Tigers
held a 15-point lead (45-30) with 13 minutes left in the game.
Hendrix came no closer than seven points, 41-48, with 6:41 on the
clock.
The Tigers shot 47.3 percent (26-55) and Hendrix was limited to
28.3 percent (17-60). The Warriors led 37-34 in rebounding.
