Trinity Men Fall to Mary Hardin-Baylor on Wednesday Night
Belton, Texas - Trinity's men's basketball team lost a 78-52 game at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor on Wednesday night.
Trinity fell to 0-3 with the loss, while UMHB made its 2009-10 season debut tonight.
The Cru led 41-21 at the half, and led by as many as 31 points in the second period. The Tigers shot just 30% from the field in the first half, while UMHB hit 40% of its shots.
Trinity shot just 33% overall in the game, while Mary Hardin-Baylor finished at 46% shooting overall. UMHB held a narrow 42-38 rebounding margin over the Tigers.
Luke Caldarera registered his second double-double in as many games for the Tigers, collecting 11 points and a game-best 11 rebounds. Caldarera hit 5-10 from the field.
Heath Hopson was the only other Trinity player scoring in double figures, finishing the game with 10 points.
Mary Hardin-Baylor was led by 17 points from Sterling Phillips. Dean Pele scored 15 points, while Zane Johnston added 14 for the Cru.
The Tigers travel to Kerrville, Texas, for a 6:00 p.m. game at Schreiner on Saturday, then will make its home and Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference debut on December 3 against Southwestern.
