Two Tiger Basketball Players Selected to SCAC All-Sportsmanship Team
San Antonio – Two Trinity University Tigers student-athletes have been selected for the second annual Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Basketball All-Sportsmanship Teams.
Senior guard Bart Taylor of San Antonio (St. Mary’s Hall), and junior guard Lauren Hickey of Boerne, Texas (Boerne), made the SCAC men’s and women’s sportsmanship teams, respectively.
Each conference basketball head coach was asked to elect one member from his or her team who displayed good sportsmanship throughout the season.
The 5-foot-9 Taylor, a math major, started 24 of 27 games this
season for the Tiger men. Taylor was second on the team in assists,
with 67, and was third in 3-point shooting, at .309 (25-81).
The 5-foot-11 Hickey, and English and political science major,
played in 21 games for the Trinity women. It marked the second
consecutive year Hickey was chosen for the All-Sportsmanship Team.
Hickey was a key part of the Tigers offense which produced 70.5
points per game.
Trinity’s men, led by head coach Pat Cunningham, completed the season with a 14-13 overall record, and were 9-7 in the SCAC. The Tigers advanced to the SCAC Tournament semifinals.
The Tiger women, led by head coach Amie Bradley, finished the campaign with a 17-9 overall record, and an 11-5 SCAC mark.
