Men's Golf Ranked in the Top 25 Following Fall Season
San Antonio - The Trinity Tigers men's golf
team has earned a national ranking of No. 24 by the latest Golf
World/Nike Golf Men's Division III College Coaches' Poll.
Trinity, led by head coach Craig McConnell, had received top-25
votes in the Preseason Poll, issued last August. The Tigers
are also rated No. 22 nationally by Golfstat.
Trinity won its opening event of the fall season, the John Bohmann
Memorial Invitational, held in September at Seguin, Texas. The
Tigers were runners-up, by three strokes, at their Alamo City
Classic last week to fourth-ranked Texas-Tyler. The tournament was
played at River Crossing Golf Club in Spring Branch, Texas.
Four Tiger golfers have been ranked in the top-20 by Golfstat:
first-year player Kalen Vos (No. 31, 73.77 adjusted scoring
average), sophomore Tyler Lehmann (No. 61, 74.27), Warren Taylor
(No. 87, 74.23), and junior Erik Long-Goheen (No. 90, 75.43).
Junior Geoffrey Setiawan won individual honors at the UMHB
(University of Mary Hardin-Baylor) Intercollegiate Invitational, at
Stone Tree Golf Course in Killeen, Texas, in late September.
