Strong Day Two Pushes Tiger Men to Sixth Place at UT-Tyler
Tyler, Texas - The Trinity Tiger men's golf
team improved their score by 16 strokes and finished sixth at
UT-Tyler's Al Jones Memorial Tournament on Tuesday.
Trinity, which stood in ninth place Monday, shot a second-round
300, for a 616 total, at the par-71, 6,944-yard Cascades course.
The Tigers placed ahead of LeTourneau (617), Concordia (624),
Mississippi College (628), Centenary (633), Louisiana College
(639), Texas-Dallas (640), Hendrix (675), and Mississippi College
(second team) (690).
Tiger Kalen Vos shot a 1-over 72 in the second round and finished
in a tie for eighth place, with a 148 total. Erik Long-Goheen
bettered his score by six strokes, with a 2-over 73 (152), and a
tie for the No. 17 slot. Eric Redeker tied for 44th, after shooting
9-over 80 (161), and Geoffrey Setiawan was in a tie for No. 48th
place, with a second-round 83 (163).
Cheyne Kendall of Schreiner was the individual medalist, with a
par-71 (141), and UT-Tyler's Jacob Walsh was runner-up at 3-over 75
(143).
UT-Tyler (585) won the tournament, and Emory (601) was
runner-up. Schreiner (604) placed third, while UT-Tyler Orange and
Mary Hardin-Baylor (609) tied for fourth place.
Trinity's Alamo Classic will be held Oct. 24-25 at River
Crossing in Spring Branch.
