Trinity Women's Golf in Fourth Place After First Round of Schreiner Shootout
Kerrville, Texas - The Trinity Tigers women's golf team stands in fourth place after Monday's first round of the Schreiner Women's Shootout.
Trinity shot an opening-day 369 at The Club at Comanche Trace. Southwestern (340) is the leader at the par-72 course. McMurry (355) is in second place, and host Schreiner (358) is third. Texas Lutheran (370) stands in fifth place, Texas-Tyler (372) is sixth, Texas-Brownsville (389) is No. 7, and Texas A&M International (453) is eighth.
The Tigers are fresh off a team victory at last week's Sen. Eddie Lucio Collegiate Golf Invitational at Laguna Vista, Texas (South Padre Island Golf Club).
Trinity first-year golfer Madison Wallender of Spring Branch, Texas (Smithson Valley), is tied for sixth-place, after shooting an opening-round 87.
Junior Emma Herzog of Katy, Texas (Cinco Ranch), stands alone at No. 16, with a 90. Senior Anne Wooton of Baltimore (Friends School) holds the No. 22 slot, at 94. Olivia Kotter, a senior from Akron, Ohio (Firestone), is tied for 30th place (98); and sophomore Julia Orrange of Georgetown, Texas (Georgetown), is in a tie for 34th (99).
Kristen Davenport of Southwestern is the first-round leader, at 79.
The 36-hole tournament concludes Tuesday.
