Tiger Golf Teams Finish Opening Day of SCAC Tournament on Friday
Stone Mountain, Ga. – The Trinity Tiger women's golf team is in fifth and the men in sixth after Friday’s opening round of the 54-hole Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Golf Championships at Stonemont Course.
The Trinity women shot a cumulative 375 at the par-74 event. The Tigers lead Millsaps (431), Hendrix (448) and Sewanee (460). Centre leads after the first round with a 341, two strokes over defending champion Southwestern, at 343. DePauw is right behind, in third place, with a 344. Rhodes stands in fourth, shooting 349.
On the men's side, the Tigers are sixth place overall, shooting a first-round 315. Trinity leads Sewanee (336), Millsaps (344) and Hendrix (355). Centre is the opening round leader, with a 307, one stroke over DePauw (308). Defending NCAA Division III and SCAC champion Oglethorpe, the host team, is tied for third place with Rhodes, at 310. Southwestern is in fifth place, shooting 312.
Jonathan Alden is tied for second after he shot a 5-over 75 at the par-70 Stonemont Course, which is just two shots off the lead. On the women's side, Julia Orrange registered a 14-over 88, and is tied for 11th place to lead Trinity.
Olivia Kotter went 17-over 91, for a tie for 17th. Madison Wallender stands alone at No. 25, with a 22-over 96. Anne Wooton shot 26-over 100, and is in 26th place. Tied for 29th is Emma Herzog, at 30-over 104.
Trinity’s Warren Taylor and Geoffrey Setiawan shot 8-over 78s, and are tied for 13th place. Nash Kassam tied for 32nd place, with a 14-over 84, and Ryan Barry is in a tie for 35th, at 15-over 85.
The second round will be played Saturday, with an approximate starting time of 8:45 a.m. Eastern.
