Men's Golf Finishes as Runner-up at West Regional
Round Rock, Texas – The Trinity Tigers men’s golf team shot a final-round best score of 288 Tuesday to finish as runner-up at the 54-hole West Region Invitational at the Teravista Golf Club course.
Trinity, which registered an 899 at the par-72 tournament, placed second behind Texas-Brownsville (880). Host Southwestern (907) was third, Texas Lutheran (925) finished fourth, and Concordia (926) placed fifth. Mary Hardin-Baylor (940) came in at No. 6, California Lutheran (941) was seventh, and McMurry (950) rounded out the event in eighth place.
Two Tiger golfers were part of a five-way tie for second place, at 5-over 221. Warren Taylor shot a final-round 4-under 68, the lowest score of the two-day tournament, and Ryan Barry recorded a 1-over 73. Texas- Brownsville’s Chris Milligan won medalist honors, with a 73 Tuesday, for a 4-under 212 total.
Trinity’s Jonathan Alden shot a 73, for a 225 total, and stood alone in 12th place. Nash Kassam, playing as an individual, scored a 73 (227 total) and tied for 14th place. Lee Seidlits, also an individual player, had a 6-over 78 (236), in a tie for 27th. Geoffrey Setiawan brought in a 2-over 74 (238 total) for 29th place, and Chase Clayton went 7-over 79 (239 total), in a tie for 30th.
Individual Tiger player Eric Davis placed in a tie for 44th, with a final-round 83 (246), and Peter Senior, listed as an individual, was 47th (third-round 85, 250 total).
The Tiger men’s and women’s teams will compete April 23-25 at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships, to be held at the Stone Mountain Golf Club in Stone Mountain, Ga.
