Women's Golf Fifth After First Round at Southwestern Tournament

Georgetown, Texas – The Trinity Tigers women’s golf team is in fifth place, after Monday’s opening round of the Southwestern Invitational at the par-72 Berry Creek Golf Course.

Trinity shot a cumulative 368, and is ahead of LeTourneau (376) and Concordia (Texas) (436). Host Southwestern is the leader, with a 336, and St. Mary’s College (Ind.) is second, at 339. Texas-Tyler is third (345) and Mary Hardin-Baylor stands in fourth place (346).

Tiger senior Olivia Kotter of Akron, Ohio (Firestone), is tied for ninth (86), and senior Anne Wooton of Baltimore (Friends School) is in a tie for 20th place (90). Tied for 24th place, with 96s, are junior Emma Herzog of Katy, Texas (Cinco Ranch); and sophomore Julia Orrange, a hometown player from Georgetown (Georgetown). Junior Lisa Zampello of Kingwood, Texas (Kingwood), played for a tie in 29th place, shooting a 98.

Kelsey Coburn of Southwestern is the leader (78), and Natalie Matuszak of St. Mary’s College is second (80).

The 36-hole tournament concludes Tuesday.
