Golf Teams Finish in Top 20 at Jekyll Island Tournament
Jekyll Island, Ga. – The Trinity Tigers men’s golf team finished the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational in 16th place (of 27 tems), and the Tiger women completed the event at No. 17 (of 23 teams).
The Tiger men shot a final-round 312, for a 926 total over 54 holes, at the Pine Lakes Golf Club. Methodist emerged as the champion, with a third-round 290 (864).
Senior Jonathan Alden shot a 7-over-par 79 Sunday, for a 226 total, and a tie for 25th place. First -year golfer Geoffrey Setiawan went 4-over 76 (231) and tied for 54th place. Sophomore Ryan Barry had a 6-over 78 Sunday (232), and finished in a tie for 58th. First-year player Warren Taylor and senior Nash Kassam were part of a tie for 87th place, at 239 each. Both golfers registered final round 7-over 79s.
Trinity’s women, who played the Indian Mound course, had a third-round 364 (1,118 total). Methodist was team champion shooting a 317 Sunday, for a 951 total.
Senior Olivia Kotter tied for 49th place, with a final-round 87 (263 total). Sophomore Julia Orrange shot a 93 (280), and finished in 84th place. Junior Emma Herzog was in a tie for 89th, with a third-round 92 (287). Senior Anne Wooton tied for 92nd place, shooting a 92 (288).
The Tiger women will next compete March 28 at the Southwestern Invitational at Georgetown, Texas. Trinity’s men are preparing for the West Region Invitational April 11, also at Georgetown.
