Trinity Men in 16th and Women in 17th After Second Round at Jekyll Island

Jekyll Island, Ga. – The Trinity Tigers men’s golf team is in 16th place and the women are in 17th, following Saturday’s second round of the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational.

The Trinity men shot a second-round 310, for a 614 total, at the par-72 Pine Lakes Golf Club course. Methodist is the leader, at 574.

Senior Jonathan Alden recorded a 2-over-par 74, for a two-day total of 147, and is tied for 15th place. Sophomore Ryan Barry went 5-over 77 (154 total) and is in a tie for 56th. First-year golfer Geoffrey Setiawan of Jakarta, Indonesia (International Community School), shot a 7-over 79 (155), in a tie for 62nd place. Warren Taylor, a first-year player from Newton, Pa. (Peddie), went 8-over 80 (160), tied for 92nd place. Senior Nash Kassam of Vancouver, British Columbia (St. Georges), is also tied for 92nd, after registering a 10-over 82 (160).

Trey Bridwell of Maryville is the second-round leader of the large field, with a 140. Bridwell shot an even-par 72 on Saturday.

Trinity’s women are tied with Huntingdon for 17th place – of 23 teams – after shooting a second-round 382 (780) at the Indian Mound course. Methodist is the leader, at 634.

Senior Olivia Kotter of Akron, Ohio (Firestone), improved her first-round score by eight strokes, shooting an 84, for a 176 total. Kotter is tied for 50th place.

Sophomore Julia Orrange of Georgetown, Texas (Georgetown), is in a tie for 82nd, after shooting 96 (187 total). Junior Emma Herzog of Katy, Texas (Cinco Ranch), stands alone at No. 96, with a second-round 101 (195). Senior Anne Wooton of Baltimore (Friends School), also shot a 101 (196), tied for 97th place.

The leader after two rounds is Callie Bennett of Berry, who shot a 4-over 76 (155).

The 54-hole tournament concludes Sunday.
