Men's Golf in Second After Opening Day of ConCan Tournament
ConCan, Texas – The Trinity Tigers
men’s golf team is in second place, by five strokes, after
Monday’s first round of the TLU ConCan Intercollegiate
Classic.
Trinity shot an opening-day 312 at the par-72 course at The Club at
ConCan. Mary Hardin-Baylor is the leader, at 307. The Tigers
lead Concordia (316), McMurry and Schreiner (318), host Texas
Lutheran (319), Southwestern (321), Sterling (324), Texas-Dallas
(325), Hardin-Simmons (330), 11 Mississippi College (331),
LeTourneau (346), and Texas A&M International (347).
Tiger sophomore Ryan Barry of Del Mar, Calif. (Torrey Pines); and first-year Warren Taylor of Newton, Pa. (Peddie); each shot a 5-over-par 77. The two Trinity players are part of a four-way tie for eighth place.
Three Trinity golfers are tied for 14th, with 7-over 79s: senior Jonathan Alden of Austin, Texas (Westlake); senior Chase Clayton of Bakersfield, Calif. (Garces Memorial); and Geoffrey Setiawan of Jakarta, Indonesia (International Community School).
Texas Lutheran’s Andrew Long, and Garrison Nordt of Mary
Hardin-Baylor, are tied for the lead with 1-over 73s.
The tournament concludes Tuesday with a final 18 holes.
