San Antonio – Trinity football senior defensive lineman Alejandro Anzaldua has been named to the Southern Athletic Association 2017 Fall All-Sportsmanship Team.
Anzaldua was recently voted as a member of the All-SAA First Team on defense, and he was a three-time All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference First Team selection before Trinity moved to the SAA for the 2017 season. He was also chosen as the SAA Defensive Player of the Week earlier this year.
This season, Anzaldua led all Tiger players with a career-best 11.5 tackles for loss and he finished third on the team with a career-high 51 total tackles. Over his 39-game career, Anzaldua recorded 157 total tackles, 7.5 sacks, and 39.0 tackles for loss.
Led by fourth-year Head Coach Jerheme Urban, Trinity completed the 2017 season with a 6-4 overall record. The Tigers were 5-3 in their first year in the SAA and finished fourth in the league standings.
