San Antonio - Trinity senior linebacker Mitchell Globe has been selected as the Southern Athletic Association Football Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season.
Globe turned in a standout defensive performance in last Saturday's 27-21 loss to Centre (KY) College. Trinity scored a pair of touchdowns in the fourth quarter, but the Tiger rally fell just short in the end.
Globe led all players with 14 tackles, and his fumble recovery in the fourth quarter allowed Trinity to cut the lead to just 27-14. He also assisted on one of the Tiger defense's two sacks in the game.
So far this season, Globe has recorded 73 tackles overall and 30 solo stops. He also has five QB hurries, two sacks, and two recovered fumbles to his credit. Globe also moved up in Trinity's record books for career tackles, moving to 15th all-time with 225.
Trinity fell to 4-2 overall after having its four-game winning streak snapped, and the Tigers are 3-1 in conference action. The Tigers travel to Sewanee, Tennessee, to take on SAA rival Sewanee: The University of the South at noon Saturday.
