Four Trinity Football Players Earn Preseason All-America Honors

San Antonio - The Tiger football team had four of its players earn preseason All-America honors for the 2012 season.

All four players were honored on the Beyond Sports College Network (BSN) preseason squads, while one also earned a spot on the D3football.com Preseason All-America team.

Senior punter Kyle Trella was a D3football.com Honorable Mention All-America selection last season, and earned 2nd Team honors on the 2012 Preseason team.  He was also Trinity's lone 1st Team selection to the BSN Preseason All-America team.

Joining Trella were seniors Nick Darling and Phillip Hiner-Leamon, and junior Von'Darrick Jones.  Darling and Jones were both on the BSN 2nd Team, while Hiner-Leamon was an Honorable Mention selection.

Trella was second in the nation in punting last season, averaging 41.7 yards/punt, and totaling over 2,600 yards.  Darling, Jones, and Hiner-Leamon were all 1st Team All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference selections last season, and are set to lead Trinity's defense once again in 2012.

Darling was in the top 10 in the SCAC in tackles, while Hiner-Leamon was second in the league in sacks.  Jones picked off a pair of passes last year - one of which he returned for a touchdown.

Trinity is led by Head Coach Steve Mohr, who will begin his 23rd season with the Tigers this fall.  Mohr led last year's team to a 10-1 overall record that included winning the SCAC Championship and advancing to the NCAA Playoffs.
