Trinity Football Coach Mohr to Speak at Tailgate Talks

San Antonio – Trinity University Tigers head football Coach Steve Mohr will be a featured speaker Thursday at the San Antonio Sports Tailgate Talks at The Historic Sunset Station’s Depot 1 Room (1174 E. Commerce).

Joining Coach Mohr are head football coaches Larry Coker (University of Texas at San Antonio), and Mike Santiago (University of the Incarnate Word).

Networking and happy hour begin at 5:30 p.m., and the panel discussion is slated for 6:15-7 p.m.

The coaches represent three NCAA divisions, and will present their views of the upcoming season.

Coach Mohr, in his 21st season at the Tigers helm, is the most successful football coach in Trinity history, with a record of 160-59. His teams have won 14 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships, and advanced to the NCAA Division III playoffs 11 times since 1994.

He has earned numerous awards from the SCAC and the American Football Coaches Association. Coach Mohr guided the Tigers to the 2002 Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl, the NCAA Division III Championship game.

This year’s Tiger team has been ranked 19th nationally by The Sporting News Division III Preseason Poll, and is the only SCAC team listed in the poll.

Trinity opens its season Sept. 4 by hosting Howard Payne University at the Trinity Football Stadium.

Admission is $10, except for San Antonio Sports members and volunteers, who will be admitted free. Prospective members may join at the door, and the admission fee will be waived.
