Caleb Urban Selected to Play in Tazón de Estrellas
San Antonio - Trinity University Tigers senior
wide receiver Caleb Urban of Victoria, Texas (Memorial), has been
selected to play Dec. 18 in the Tazón de Estrellas (Bowl of
the Stars) in Toluca, Mexico.
The 6-foot-1, 205-pound Urban will join a group of NCAA Division
III All-Stars (Team Stars & Stripes) and the CONADEIP All-Stars
from Mexico. Urban is the eighth Trinity player to compete in the
U.S. vs. Mexico all-star game. Wide receiver Riley Curry
represented the Tigers in the 2009 tilt, and was named a team
captain.
The game will be played at Tec Monterrey Stadium. CONADEIP is a
newly formed Mexican conference of private schools. The game,
formerly known as the Aztec Bowl, is organized by Global Football.
Last year, Team Stars and Stripes suffered a 24-12 loss to the Tec
Monterrey All-Stars.
Urban leads the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference in kickoff
returns (14 returns, 411 yards, 29.4 average). He is fourth in
all-purpose yards (292 yards receiving, with three touchdowns; 142
rushing yards; 411 kickoff return yards; and 42 interception return
yards; for 887 total; an average of 147.8 yards per game).
Last season, Urban returned 24 kickoffs for a school single-season
record of 630 yards and one touchdown. He holds the Tiger record
for career kickoff return yards (1,726) and single-season yards.
The records were previously held by his brother, Jerheme Urban, a
receiver for the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Tigers (3-3, 1-2 SCAC) will host defending conference
co-champion DePauw (6-0, 4-0 SCAC) at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the
Trinity Football Stadium. The game will be played during the
University's Alumni Weekend.
