Kyle Trella Named SCAC Special Teams Player of the Week

San Antonio - Trinity University Tigers sophomore punter Kyle Trella has been selected as the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Football Special Teams Player of the Week.

The 6-foot, 165-pound Trella, from Chandler, Ariz. (Chandler), averaged 42.2 yards, on four punts, in Trinity's 17-3 victory over Sewanee: The University of the South last week at Sewanee, Tenn. Trella placed two of his punts inside Sewanee's 20 yard line, and chalked up a punt of 52 yards during the game.

For the season, Trella, the 2009 SCAC Football Newcomer of the Year, has punted the ball 27 times, for 1,119 yards (41.4 average), with eight punts landing inside the 20. His longest punt of the season was 60 yards, during the season-opening victory against Howard Payne on Sept. 4.

The Tigers (3-3, 1-2 SCAC) returns home to host DePauw (6-0, 4-0 SCAC) at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Trinity Football Stadium. The game with the defending SCAC co-champion will be played during Trinity's Alumni Weekend.
