Trinity's Lewis and Biel Earn SCAC Player of the Week Awards

San Antonio – Trinity University Tigers senior running back Kyle Lewis and sophomore kicker Garrett Biel have been selected as Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Football Players of the Week.
 
Lewis, from Kingston, Jamaica, was named SCAC Offensive Player of the Week. Biel, from Clayton, Calif. (De La Salle), was selected as SCAC Special Teams Player of the Week.
 
The 6-foot, 204-pound Lewis rushed for 160 yards on 25 carries (6.4 avg.), and scored two touchdowns in Trinity's 38-28 win at Birmingham-Southern last Saturday. He totaled 86 yards on 14  attempts (6.1 avg.) in the first half, and then upped his production in the second half to 74 yards on 11 carries (6.7 avg.). On the season, Lewis leads the team with 365 yards on 59 carries (6.2 avg.), ranking third in the SCAC.
 
Biel, at 5-foot-8, 165 pounds, booted a career-best 49-yard field goal late in the first quarter against Birmingham-Southern. His 49-yarder was the third-longest field goal in Trinity history, and was his third made from 45 or more yards. Biel also connected on all five of his PAT attempts to tally eight total points.  For the season, Biel had made 5-5 field goals, and 12-14 PATs for 27 points.
 
In addition, Biel is a September honoree of the Fred Mitchell Award, for excellence on the football field and in the community. The national award, which honors placekickers, will be announced in December.
 
Trinity (2-2) travels to Seguin, Texas, Saturday, for a 1 p.m. non-conference game with Texas Lutheran University.
