Former Tiger Standout Signs With Kansas City Chiefs

San Antonio – Former Trinity University Tigers wide receiver Jerheme Urban is now a member of the Kansas City Chiefs.

Urban was declared a free agent with the Arizona Cardinals, and signed a two-year contract with the Chiefs.

A six-year NFL veteran, Urban snagged two passes for 34 yards at the Louisiana Superdome, in the NFC Divisional game against the New Orleans Saints. New Orleans won the game 45-14, and went on to beat the Indianapolis Colts in the Super Bowl.

For the season, Urban caught 18 passes for 186 yards. He was a member of Arizona's 2009 Super Bowl team, where he caught a pass for a first down from Kurt Warner.

Urban's best NFL season was 2008 (with the Cardinals), when he had 34 receptions for 448 yards and four touchdowns. The 6-foot-3, 207-pound Urban also played with the Seattle Seahawks, and was invited to the Dallas Cowboys camp. Urban's career stats are 87 receptions, 1,231 yards, and seven touchdowns.

A native of Victoria, Texas (Stroman High School), Urban holds the career Trinity record for touchdowns scored (40), from 1999-2002. Urban previously held the mark for kick return yardage (1,000 yards). The record was broken this past season by his younger brother, Caleb. Jerheme Urban was elected as an All-American in 2002, and was a three-time member of the All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Team.

Urban was named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Male Track and Field Athlete of the Year,  from 2000-2003. He won a SCAC-record 12 individual titles, in six events, at the conference championships.  Urban graduated from Trinity in 2003.

Also joining Urban in Kansas City is another former Tiger football player.  Adam Zimmer, a defensive back at Trinity, was on the Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints coaching staff this past season, and will now reunite with Urban as an assistant coach with the Chiefs.
