San Antonio - Four Trinity players have been tabbed for the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Baseball All-Tournament Team.
The third-seeded Tigers reached the championship game, and defeated #1 seed Centenary (LA) College 10-9, forcing a second matchup on Sunday. The Gents prevailed in the second game to win the SCAC title, and Trinity ended its season with a 28-16 record.
Tate made two relief appearances in the double-elimination tournament. He pitched for a scoreless inning during Trinity's 11-2 opening victory over Texas Lutheran University, then earned the win in Saturday's win 4-3, 10-inning win over Southwestern (TX) University. In the game that sent the Tigers to the championship matchup, Tate struck out 11 batters over 6.2 innings, allowing just one run on four hits.
Walters batted .480 (12-25) over the five games, chalking up seven RBI, six runs scored, two triples, and five doubles. In the opener against Texas Lutheran, Walters hit 4-6 with three RBI. He also went 4-6 with three doubles, two runs, and drove in three more runs in the team's win over Centenary.
Davis went 7-18 (.389) at the plate, with three RBI, four runs, two doubles, and a solo homer. He hit the solo home run in the first loss to Centenary. Davis posted a 3-4 batting mark against Southwestern, along with two runs and two doubles.
Martin batted .364 (8-22) overall in the tournament. He drove in four runs, and scored three others.
