The Saints opened the scoring with two runs in the second, then added another in the third to go up 3-0 against the Tigers.
The Tigers were held scoreless until the sixth, scoring a run despite not getting a hit in the inning. Trinity took advantage of two hit batters, a wild pitch, and an error to make it a 3-1 game.
In the seventh, the Tigers took the lead with four runs on three hits, highlighted by a two-run double off the bat of Joey Pecoraro.
Trinity pitcher Trevor Griffin came on in relief in the third, shutting down the OLLU offense by retiring 19 consecutive batters to close the game, and setting up the late-inning rally by the Tigers.
Trinity evened its record to 11-11, while Our Lady of the Lake dropped to 10-16. The two teams will meet again April 25 at Trinity.
Trevor Griffin (1-0) came on in relief of starter Dylan McGee, pitching the final 6.1 innings of the game without allowing a single base runner. Griffin struck out eight batters, retiring 19 consecutive hitters to claim the victory.
Trinity and Texas Lutheran University will face off in a non-conference game on Tuesday, March 28, beginning at 7:00 p.m.
